Carlisle Design Journal,  February 2024

I’m guessing that you love Instagram, Pinterest, and design magazines as much as we do here at Carlisle Design! How wonderful to have access to so many beautiful and creative interior design photos that inspire us as design professionals and certainly anyone looking for ideas and inspiration for their upcoming project. These alluringly finished spaces make us ooh and ah and even draw us in to imagine ourselves in such a space that fills us with all the emotions we want to embrace and feel every day.

Of course, we can’t wait to show our own completed client spaces, and like with any achievement one has, the thrill and the glory come from knowing all it took to get there. Wouldn’t you agree?

When a client hires our firm to design their space, part of the experience they deserve is feeling like they are part of a synchronized swimming demonstration. The process is a partnership for sure as we rely on input and feedback to ensure we capture their goals and vision. However, a large percentage of every project has extensive behind-the-scenes activity, never seen by the client. Our experience allows us to eliminate products right off the bat, but believe me, that still leaves a myriad of decisions to make, schedules to create, problems to solve, and communications to write; all part of the process and all part of the benefit we bring to a project. During first conversations with clients, we will often compare ourselves to synchronized swimmers who rise above the water with smiles and motion and seemingly breathe easily. Below the water, they are moving fast and in a synchronized fashion to get to the next formation. We do the same. Behind the scenes, our team works diligently to capture every detail of each step of the process, so the final moment is nothing short of glorious.

So, for your next project, remember that you are seeing about one-third of the total that it takes to design and manage a successful remodel or new construction. This is the design experience we believe you deserve!
